Event Description
BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT

Saturday October 17, Pier 70 San Francisco
The Balboa and Roxie Theaters Present:

BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT
USA, 1982, 117 min
Directed by Ridley Scott. Starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos

Modern science fiction wouldn’t be what it is today if not for Ridley Scott’s visually stunning, achingly human sci-fi masterpiece Blade Runner. Set in 2019, Scott’s legendary adaptation of Phillip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? gave us a startling vision of a noir-ishly dystopian future, in which the line between human and non-human has worn perilously thin. Harrison Ford stars as the government-sanctioned killer who falls in love with gorgeous, enigmatic Sean Young, while trying to eliminate Rutger Hauer and his rogue band of genetically engineered replicants.

To Benefit La Cocina

The mission of La Cocina is to cultivate low-income food entrepreneurs as they formalize and grow their businesses. La Cocina works to solve problems of equity in business ownership for women, immigrants and people of color. Since COVID-19, 70% of La Cocina-born businesses have lost 100% of their sales,; 86% of La Cocina entrepreneurs had regular employees, and by the end of March, 90% of those businesses had to lay off or furlough their entire staff. For 56%, their business is their entire family’s sole source of income. As restaurants have been allowed to do takeout and delivery, some entrepreneurs have found revenue, yet only 10% of what they were selling before March. As a nation, we lack the structural support systems to properly care for hourly workers and small business owners. It’s time to advocate together for immediate support and change. Here’s what you can do to support:
